Education
I am honored to be the only candidate endorsed by the Association of County Educators.
I will protect our children's education budgets. Public education is a privilege and a right.
Governor Schwarzenegger wants all California departments to take "across the board cuts."
I cannot look into my Kindergartener's eyes and tell him he has to "take a cut."
State Legislators are elected to make choices. I choose not to cut our schools' funding.
My education priorities include:
* maintaining small class sizes across the state;
* advocating for children with autism by strengthening research and special education response;
* supporting parent choice in education by encouraging quality charter schools;
* protecting the rights of parents and students to appeal local school board decisions;
* supporting public access to government records, like school district budget and policy documents;
* strengthening the role of School Site Councils, so your local voice will impact your school's success;
* enhancing Community College offerings so all Californians have access to higher education.;
* increasing college loan opportunities, so students can afford to study now in preparation for their careers.
As your Assemblywoman, I will continue to carry your family's voice to fight for your needs in Sacramento.
