Originally elected in 2000 and re-elected strongly in 2004, Anna Song, age 40, brings more than 15 years experience in counseling, youth education, domestic violence intervention and fair housing enforcement to her current public service role on the Santa Clara County Board of Education.
Anna served as Board president in 2004 and currently chairs the County Board's Legislative Committee.
Anna is the first Korean-born female to be elected in California's history. In addition to her school board work, Anna has been elected three times to the Santa Clara County Democratic Central Committee and is in her eighth year on the Democratic State Central Committee. She also has served as President of the Mission City Democratic Club.
Anna was awarded the State Democratic Party's John F. Kennedy, Jr. Award for Public Service and has been commended by SEIU for advocacy. Anna is bilingual in Korean and English and also speaks some Spanish.
Anna holds a bachelor's degree in theology with a minor in mental health from Franciscan University in Ohio and has studied at the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley. Anna has worked with a wide range of youth, including those from South Central Los Angeles, Los Altos and Santa Clara County's Juvenile Hall.
Anna lives in Santa Clara with her husband Chris Stampolis, and their two young sons.
